Jewellery services

Repairs, cleaning, sizing and valuations — arranged through our counter in Vereeniging. We look after pieces bought from us, and pieces bought anywhere else.

  1. Bring it in

Over the counter in Vereeniging. No appointment for repairs, cleaning or aftercare.

  2. We look and we quote

You are told what is possible and what it costs before anything is started.

  3. We take care of it

We arrange the work with the specialists we trust, follow it through, and check it before you collect.

Repairs

Chains, clasps, claws and shanks.

A worn claw, a stretched chain, a clasp that no longer holds. Most pieces that come across the counter are not broken, only tired, and most can be brought back.

  • Claw re-tipping and rebuilding
  • Chain, clasp and catch repair
  • Re-shanking and shank reinforcement
  • Stone replacement and resetting
  • Soldering and laser welding

We take in pieces bought anywhere, not only our own.

Assessed and quoted before any work begins · Most repairs five to seven working days

Cleaning and polishing

The original finish, brought back.

Gold dulls, white gold loses its rhodium, and settings collect everything the day puts into them. A proper clean is not a wipe at the counter.

  • Ultrasonic and steam cleaning
  • Re-polishing to the original finish
  • Rhodium re-plating for white gold
  • Chain and link cleaning

Free for life on anything bought from us.

Simple cleans while you wait · Re-polishing and plating three to five days

Ring re-sizing

Sized properly, not stretched.

Fingers change. A ring that no longer sits right is not a ring you wear. Sizing is done by cutting and rejoining the shank, which keeps the metal even all the way round.

  • Sizing up and down
  • Shank rebuilding where metal has worn thin
  • Re-shaping bent and oval shanks
  • Sizing beads and inserts for knuckles

Free within thirty days on rings bought from us.

Usually five to seven working days · We will tell you if a setting cannot be sized

Valuations

Written, signed and itemised.

For insurance, for an estate, or simply to know. Every valuation is itemised, signed and dated, and comes back to you with the piece.

  • Full written description and photograph
  • Metal weights and stone measurements
  • Colour, clarity and cut assessment
  • Current replacement value, signed and dated

Prepared for insurance and estate purposes.

Single pieces about a week · Collections by arrangement

Aftercare

A check-up, whenever you like.

The cheapest repair is the one that never becomes necessary. A claw that has worn thin is a small job today and a lost stone next month.

  • Claw, setting and clasp inspection
  • Tightening and re-securing
  • Condition report on anything we find
  • Advice on wear and storage

No charge, no appointment, on pieces bought with us.

Checked at the counter · We suggest once a year for anything worn daily

Zakaat weighing and valuation

Accurate weights and the day’s rate.

So that the figure you calculate from is the right one. We weigh your gold and silver on calibrated scales at the counter and value it against the rate on the day you come in.

  • Weighing on calibrated scales
  • Carat testing where the mark is unclear
  • Valuation at the day’s gold and silver rate
  • A written note of weights and values to take away

We weigh and we value. What is due is between you and your scholar.

No charge · Done while you wait · Busiest before Ramadaan, so come early if you can

One counter, start to finish. You hand the piece to us, and you collect it from us.

Tell us what you need
